The the ten-man shortlist has been announced earlier today, and some world's top fotball players will compete for the trophy of UEFA Best Player in Europe.
Journalists from each of UEFA's 55 member associations provided a list of their five best-ranked players, with the first receiving five points, the second four and so on. Ten players who has been chosen by the journalist will advance to second vote to compete for 3 finalists. The nominees, in alphabetical order, are: Gareth Bale (Real Madrid & Wales) Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus & Italy) Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid & France) Toni Kroos (Real Madrid & Germany) Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Argentina) Thomas Müller (Bayern München & Germany) Manuel Neuer (Bayern München & Germany) Pepe (Real Madrid & Portugal) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid & Portugal) Luis Suárez (Barcelona & Uruguay)
Portugal is the first semi-finalist of the Euros. They beat Poland 5-3 on penalties and now they will wait for the result of the second quarter-final game Wales vs Belgium. First half of the game were incredible. Lewandowski gave Poland a great start, sliding a ball past Rui Patricio. Then, few minutes later Renato Sanches, an 18-year-old, scored a beauty from 20m. Game entered in extra times, but there were no goals so penalties decided the first semi finalist. Blaszczykowski missed crucial penalty for Poland and Rikardo Quaresma scored the penalty which took his team into semi-finals without acctually winning a game in regular time at Euro 2016. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first penalty for Portugal, but he was unable to break Platini's 9-goal-record. He had several great chances but he couldn't find the net. Group stage of EURO 2016 ended yesterday and we know all matches for the round 16.
Eight Real Madrid players will play in this round (Cristiano, Pepe, Kroos, Modrić, Kovačić, Ramos, Vazquez, Morata i Bale). On Saturday, Wales will face Northern Irealnd (6 pm) and Croatia will face Portugal same day (9 pm). Germany will face Slovakia on Sunday (6 pm) and Spain will face Italy on Monday (6pm). |
